Our story

Inspired by unavoidable heartbreak, DPDesignsStuff was born out of passion, creativity, determination, and a whole lot of grit. In 2020, I was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). OCD, a type of neurodivergence, is widely misunderstood, yet important to understand. OCD can significantly interfere with daily life and can lead to significant mental health distress. OCD symptoms can range in intensity and frequency, which can vary from mild to extremely debilitating. OCD is characterized by intrusive thoughts (O) and repetitive behaviors used to neutralize or counteract the obsessions (C). Very quickly, engaging in OCD treatment became critically necessary.

At some point during my treatment journey, I was gifted a 3D printer and fell in love. I love to challenge myself and brighten the lives of others through my creations. For a couple of years, I played with the 3D printer and began noticing that I experienced the most joy and success through the messy imperfections and trials and errors. Over time, I continued to create and grow right along with my 3D printing passion and skills. Fast forward to 2023 and our family lost a beloved family member, my maternal uncle. As I experienced my mother's painful grief right alongside her, I wanted to bring her a little bit of joy and a way to memorialize her brother. And thus, the first version of our lamp was created. My mother's tearful and emotional reaction touched everyone around us, and I wanted to share that joy with as many people as possible. A dream was born. Countless iterations, lots of imperfections, and many hundreds of hours working perched around our kitchen island later...and here we are. We hope you experience joy every time you turn your light on.
